Barbara's Story

Her Legacy… Barbara Akers Greenwood, 83, passed away December 11, 2017. She was born on February 16, 1934, in Benton, Illinois to George Riley Hutchens and Ferne Pearce. She will be remembered as a loving, strong and beautiful mother who worked for the Army Corp of Engineers for 10 years. She was a camp house host. This led to her love of camping, hiking and mushroom hunting. Barbara enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Her Family… Barbara will be missed by her children, Janet Foster, Amy Hafner, Martin Akers; siblings, Bill Hutchens, Andy (Jane) Hutchens, Larry (Joyce) Hutchens; grandchildren, Ashley, Eric, Matthew, Riley, Tim, Alexandra, Bradley, Kaitlyn, Abby; great grandchildren, Jake, Sawyer, Lennon; and 6 step children and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Lyda Larmer, Dee Ann Burns, Timothy Akers and her parents. Her first husband, Duane Red Akers and her second husband Jim Greenwood.
