Carroll Dean's Story

Mr. Carroll Dean Thompson, age 86 of Sparta, passed away Monday morning, June 27, 2016 at Life Care Center of Sparta. Dean was born December 7, 1929 in Tower Hill, Illinois to the late Alva & Nellie Strech Thompson. He was a graduate of Cowden High School and a U.S. Navy Veteran. Dean was an avid golfer and an active member of Central Church of Christ. He was employed by Mallory Timers for 39 years and was transferred from Indianapolis, Indiana in March 1967 to begin production in the new Sparta plant. He retired in 1992. Dean is survived by his wife Mary Anna Thompson; daughters Karen (Dave) Rogers, Laurie (Charles) Sewell, Pam (Monte) Manus, Annette (Roger) Fuqua, Candice Sergio; son Robert Wayne (Pam) Thompson; five grandchildren Mark (Amber) Manus, Kenneth Thompson, Josh (Renee) Thompson, Kelley Thompson and Ashley Fuqua. Two sisters: Eileen (Jay) Smith and Pat Thompson. Several nieces, nephews and close friends also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Happy Haven Children's Home or Sparta Senior Center
