Charles E. Watson Jr., 88, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Shelbyville Manor surrounded by family.
Born August 5, 1928, the son of Raymond and Elsie (Matheny) Watson. He and Imogene (Wheeler) Watson were united in marriage in 1949. Charles retired from the Newark Airforce Base in Newark, OH where he worked in civil service. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching western movies, looked forward to breakfast with the guys at McDonald's and enjoyed attending church at the Tree of Life Christian Church where he served as an Elder.
Charles is survived by his wife Imogene of Shelbyville; daughter Linda (Watson) Yeakel and husband Duane of Decatur; grandson Zachery Charles Yeakel of Peoria; step-granddaughters Leslie (Yeakel) Evans of Lovington and Stacy (Yeakel) Bice and husband Chad of Goshen, IN; step-grandsons Bryson Shinall and Brandon Shinall both of Paducah, KY; sisters Jeanette (Watson) German of Harristown and Annabelle (Watson) Johns of Sullivan and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and son Wayne Watson.
Visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with gravesides services immediately following the visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tree of Life Christian Center. Memorials may be made to the Tree of Life Christian Center, 538 CR 1300 N Road, Sullivan, IL 61951.
