In 2005, Cheryl continued her teaching career at Watertown Elementary School as the Assistant Principal and athletic director until her retirement from Wilson County School District in the spring 2011. Cheryl moved to Florida in the summer of 2011 and continued her teaching career with the Saint Lucie County School District. She progressed from teaching in the classroom to becoming the ESE Specialist at Dale Cassens School in Fort Pierce, FL.
Cheryls hard work also served as an asset to her family businesses. She assisted her husband, Terry Ellison, with running their body shop, Terrys Auto Body, in Sullivan, IL and after moving to Watertown, Cheryl ran several antiques shops as well as Miss Violets Tea Room. She served on the City Council and was named the City of Watertowns Police Commissioner. Cheryl was always active in her community and was instrumental in developing the neighborhood watch program. Cheryl and Terry lived in the historic Waters Home, est. 1833 and following the renovations, the home was added to the Tennessee State Historical Register.
