George E. Moutrey, 85, of Herrick, passed away in his home on Saturday, May 7, 2016. He was born February 9, 1931 in Fayette County, Illinois, the youngest child to Web & Ruby (Burrus) Moutrey.
George worked for the railroad until he was drafted in the Army. He returned from service, became a farmer and raised cattle. He also custom baled hay and ran the road grader for Bowling Green Township for many years. He spent his later years riding his 4-wheeler to his neighbor and nephew, Raymond Davis', to have coffee and give him the daily report on how his cattle, crops, and granddaughters were growing. Except on Tuesday, when you would find him at the Shelbyville Sale Barn.
George married JoAnn Ard on November 10, 1977.
He is survived by his wife: JoAnn Moutrey; son, Landon Moutrey and daughter, Shantel (Ryan) Parks, all of Herrick, IL; granddaughters: Lexie & Lizzie Parks; sister, Helen Tarrant, and many nieces, nephews, and other family & friends. He was preceded by his parents and brother, Jobe Moutrey.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 in the Herrick Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jay Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Herrick. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Herrick Baptist Church.
