Gladys Dora Martin 106, of Decatur, IL passed away at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018, in Heartland Healthcare.
A service to celebrate Gladys' life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery. Gladys was born November 27, 1911, in Lakewood, IL the daughter of Charles and Dora (Small) Hall. She married Lyle C. Street on November 20, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1961. She later married John Martin on October 8, 1967. He preceded her in death in 1983. Gladys had begun her work career as a telephone operator in Lakewood. She worked for Stayrite Hairpin Factory, Shelbyville during World War II making parachute pins. She retired after thirty years of service from Decatur Memorial Hospital having worked in Central Supply at the hospital.
Surviving are her children: Nancy Spain-Brown of Decatur and John Street of Shelbyville, IL; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and twenty-four great-great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by both her husbands, parents, four sisters, one brother, three sons, one granddaughter, and a great-grandson.
