Lula's Story

Lula Rose Lester, 79 of Auburn passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at West Virginia University Hospital, Martinsburg, WV. She was born Jan. 14, 1937 in Shelbyville, the daughter of John and Margaret Smith Forcum. Lula married James Lester in Shelbyville on Oct. 29, 1961 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Alan Scott Forcum. Lula worked at Franklin Life in Springfield and later worked for Sangamon State University until her retirement. Surviving are two sons, Michael Lester of Taylorville and Phillip (fiancée, Jen Holford) Lester of Auburn; one daughter, Lela (fiancé, Monte McFadden) Lester of Kearneysville, W.V.; two grandchildren, Lia Naugle and Cora Lester; siblings, Connie Sue Weston, Amy Jo Donnel, Ted Forcum, Roger Forcum, Danny Forcum and Bradley Forcum; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 pm till 7 pm, Friday, April 15, 2016 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn. Services will be at 2 pm, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn is in charge arrangements. Condolences may be left online www.bramleyfh.com
