Lyle E. Nohren, 78, of Brownstown passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Born November 24, 1937, in Lakewood, he was the son of Merle and Elsie (Cunningham) Nohren. Lyle was veteran of the United States Army and retired from International Paper in Shelbyville. He enjoyed woodworking and metalworking. Surviving are son Sam (Olivia) Turner of Mattoon, daughter Kathryn (Rodney) Gatton of Ft. Hood, TX, four grandchildren Erik (Regina) Nohren of St. Elmo, Luke (Stephanie) Nohren of Cowden, Alex and Gabe Turner of Mattoon, Kendal and Joel Gatton of Ft. Hood, TX, six great-grandchildren, two sisters Doris Clausen of Shelbyville and Joan (Pearl) Simmons of Cowden. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sons Brian and Mark, four brothers Robert, Paul, Roger and John. Private family services will be held.
