Margie Matherly, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away at Shelby Manor on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. with loved ones by her side.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden with Reverend Steve Neville officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery.
Margie was born in Decatur on May 24, 1923, the daughter of Logan and Bessie Smith. She married Everette Matherly on June 20, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. Margie retired from Mattoon Garment Factory and will well be remembered for her cheesecake at family reunions.
Surviving are son Terry Matherly of Cowden, grandson Tracy Matherly and wife April of Kenny, great-granddaughter Karrissa Matherly of Lincoln, great-grandson Justin Matherly of Broadwell and four great-great grandchildren, granddaughter Margie Tolls of Vermont, sisters Diamond Shrunk of Mattoon and Velma Personette of Muskogee, OK, sisters-in-law Marge Smith of Mattoon and Alvenia Smith of Jefferson City, MO.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Everette, daughter Luevena Helen, son Richard W. Matherly, grandson Bobby and seven brothers.
