Marjorie B. Hampton, 94, of Windsor passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Shelbyville Manor Nursing Home. Marjorie was born November 16, 1922, in Lerna, the daughter of Robert and Alice (Campbell) Shriver. She attended Mattoon Schools and was a graduate of Lerna High School. On February 6, 1942, she and Joe L. Hampton were united in marriage and Joe preceded her in death in November of 1998. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Grace Shriver, Lucille (Jim) Gilbert, Iva (Kimery) Gilbert, Helen (Ward) Seaman and Thelma (Ralph) Easter, brothers Glen (Dorothy) Shriver and George (Mary) Shriver. Surviving are her sons Joe (Anne) Hampton of Windsor, Richard (Linda) Hampton of Effingham, Jim (Jill) Hampton of Aiken, SC; grandchildren Chris (Missy) Hampton, Heather (Brian) Knodle, Staci Eigsti (fiancé Jeff Bracco), Robin (Bill) West, Tim Hampton, Lacey Hampton, Devon Hampton and 15 great-grandchildren. Marjorie worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Sullivan and for the Charles Baker Grain Elevator in Middlesworth. She was an avid reader and constructed many beautiful cross stitch quilts. She enjoyed recording the singing of family groups at reunions and karaoke at Christmas time. She was a gifted cook and could feed a crowd on short notice. Marjorie's food cellar was lined with vegetables, fruits, juices and boiled chicken and beef for the coming season's soups and meals. She enjoyed her collection of paper weights and the sharing with grandchildren and family. Marjorie was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church, The Windsor Township Gloom Chasers Club, a past Cub Scout Leader and an active Windsor Junior Woman's Club Member. Memorials may be made to Windsor United Methodist Church, Windsor Harvest Picnic or the Shelby County 4-H Federation. Visitation was Sunday, February 26, 2017 from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor with Pastor Rena Whitcher officiating.
