Mary Ann's Story
Mary Ann Hopkins, daughter of John and Hazel Clendenen, was born December 2, 1942 in Decatur. She passed away, in the comfort of her own home, on September 8, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 74. On March 3, 1973, at 1:30 p.m. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Kenneth Franklin Hopkins in Shelbyville. Mary Ann leaves behind three daughters and two sons: Shirley Dawn Hopkins Miller and fiancé Mike Gatton of Windsor, Janice (Voyles) Manes and husband Steve of Mount Pulaski, Sherri (Voyles) Criner and husband John of Effingham, Rick Voyles of Shelbyville and Steven Voyles of Fancher. Mary Ann has two brothers: James W. Clendenen Sr. and wife Libby of Roanoke, VA and John F. Jackie Clendenen and wife Sue. She has nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was loved by many. Preceding her in death were husband Kenneth, late husband Jerry Wayne Voyles and daughter Carol Sue Voyles. Mary Ann was a homemaker and loved playing cards, marbles and spending time with her loved ones. There will be no funeral services or visitation per her wishes.
