Patricia J. Thompson, age 80, of Johnsburg, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016, at Wauconda Care Center. She was born December 22, 1935, in Findlay, IL to Alva and Nellie Mae (Stretch) Thompson.
Pat was a hard working single mother, who dedicated over 25 years to helping intellectually challenged adults at the Lincoln Developmental Center. She also would deliver over 300 newspapers to the entire town of Atlanta, IL. She taught her son, Jeff, that anything can be obtainable with hard work and determination.
She struggled with health issues for nearly 30 years, deciding to move closer to her son's family in the last 15 years. She adored her granddaughters, and was very proud of their accomplishments. Pat enjoyed spending time with her family, especially birthdays, barbecues, and holidays.
Pat is survived by her son, Jeff (Kristen) Thompson; two granddaughters, Kate and Abby Thompson; three sisters, Eileen (Jay) Smith, Maryanna Thompson, and Cookie Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five brothers, Ed Dale (Ethel), Dean, Kenneth, Walter (Eileen), Owen Thompson; and her sister Lucille (Fred).
The cremation rite was accorded privately. A graveside service and inurnment will be held Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Mound Cemetery.
