Robert G. Hunter, 73, of Moweaqua died August 14, 2016 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, with a 12:30 p.m. Memorial Service. Both will be held in First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua. A private graveside service will be in Oddfellows Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua, Shelby County 4-H or Hunter Legacy Scholarship.
Robert was born July 13, 1943 in Decatur, IL, the son of Robert A. and Eileen V. (Gabriel) Hunter. He married Alice Ann Hemer November 16, 1963 in Moweaqua, IL. She preceded him in death October 24, 2014.
Robert was a member of First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua; he formerly served on the Shelby County Board, Moweaqua School Board and Moweaqua Farmers Co-op, serving as President. He formerly served as Shelby County 4-H Beef Superintendent , was a lifetime member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau, American Angus Association and served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman for many years. Robert was a lifetime farmer and supporter of Shelby County 4-H. He spent his life living and loving the farm and his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising Angus cattle.
Surviving are his daughters; Elizabeth LuAnn (Curt) Thurman of Champaign, IL, SuEllen Mackey of Moweaqua, IL and Amy (Ryan) Rademaker of Rantoul, IL; grandchildren, John Robert Mackey, Robert John Thurman, Jackson Thomas Thurman, Grant Alexander Thurman, Kathryn Elizabeth Thurman, Hunter William Rademaker and Emily Reann Rademaker.
Preceding him in death are his wife and parents.
