Ronald E. Chance, 78, of Good Hope, passed away at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at his residence.
He was born on September 5, 1937 in Abingdon, Illinois to Leslie Carl and Mary Veola McCullum Chance. He married Janice Wagoner on may 11, 1957. She passed away on October 26, 1994. He then married Sara Mulvaney on February 18, 1997. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Greg (Laura Fullerton) Chance of Elmwood; one daughter, Debbie DeCounter of Good Hope; five grandchildren, Derek, Chase (Stacia) and Joel DeCounter and Adan and Evan Chance; Two great-grandchildren, Sage and Colt DeCounter; one brother, James Lynn Chance of Quincy and his beloved golden retriever, Sam.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Janice, granddaughter, Alana Chance and a sister, Karleen Ball.
Ron lived in Blandinsville for many years before moving to Good Hope in 1963. He worked as a sales manager for McDonough County FS for 48 years.
He was a member or the McDonough County Farm Bureau and a former member of the Lion's Club and St. Paul's Catholic Church.
A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Delbert Pancake officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at the funeral home in Macomb. Burial of ashes will be in the Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be made to the MDH Hospice or the Good Hope Fire Department.
