Ruth V. Ikemire Rosenwinkel, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Ruth was born August 31, 1923, in Louisville, IL, the daughter of Charles and Edna (Walburn) Flexser. She married Jean Ikemire and later married Ray Rosenwinkel. Ruth was a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) retiring from the Hines VA Hospital in 1985. She did private duty nursing after retiring. Ruth attended the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville. Prior to coming to Shelbyville, Ruth along with her husband Ray, would routinely visit the shut-ins. In her spare time, she could be found painting, wood carving or tending to her roses. Ruth leaves behind her children: Ed (Mary) Ikemire of Findlay, Joe Ikemire of Findlay, daughter Sandra Gay (Ron) Bingaman of Grass Valley, CA; four stepchildren: Karen (Bob) Moss, Rich (Michelle) Rosenwinkel, Kathy (Steve) Cerqua and Linda (Tom) Merkel, sisters-in-law Pat, Mary and Sherry, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Ray, one sister, two brothers and one great-grandchild. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville with Reverend Tim Yankee officiating with burial at Findlay Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
