A memorial service for Shirley A. Johnson, 80, of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, 88 North Fifth St., Newark.
Shirley passed away on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Herrick, Illinois, to the late Dwight L. and Erma (Corley) Wonus, who died in an automobile accident in 1960.
Shirley came to Newark in 1954. She was the owner of Guanciale and Johnson Real Estate for 20 years, where she was a partner with Patrick Guanciale. Shirley sold the company in 2000 to Coldwell-Banker.
She is survived by two children, David W. (Theresa) Johnson of Heath, Ohio, and Jennifer R. (David) Brehm of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Ben (Mania) Johnson, Michelle Johnson, Natalie Brehm and Riley Brehm; four great-grandchildren, Brandt Lees, Kalista Lees, Daniel Frailly and Caylynn Frailly; two sisters, Sue Wheal of Richmond, Virginia, Linda Kessel, of Shelbyville, Illinois; many close nieces and nephews and a host of close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Evelyn Corley, Louise Coryell, Dale Wonus, Bill Wonus, Laverne Wonus and Corley Wonus.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 19, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth St., Newark.
