Stella's Story

Stella A. Zander, 100, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Shelby Manor in Shelbyville. She was born August 29, 1915 at home, the daughter of John F. and Maggie (Jones) Miller. She married Joe Edward Zander on February 29, 1936 in Beecher City, he preceded her in death on January 25, 2005. She was a longtime member of the Shelbyville Church of Christ. Stella was a very loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She worked as a housekeeper for over thirty years. Stella is survived by daughter Gloria Zander of Shelbyville; grandchildren Ted (Andrea) Friesner, Natasha (Bob) Arellano all of Colorado; great-grandchildren Nickolas Friesner, Maximo Friesner, Jake Ziegler, Katherine Ziegler, all of Colorado; sister-in-law Ruby Miller of Shelbyville. Preceding her in death were her parents John and Maggie, husband Joe, daughter Joy Friesner and husband James, six sisters Vesta Prater, Eliza Parker, Ruby Bartolino, Rose Mary Taylor, Mina Hodson and Alta Brunk; four brothers Harold, Edward, Clessie and Lew. Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Wayne Polk officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shelbyville Church of Christ.
