Timothy "Sloaner" Alan Sloan, 57, of Hudson, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at his residence.
Tim was born on June 2, 1959 in Little Rock, AR to the late Vernon Sloan and Karen Drew Sloan Smith. Timothy grew up and was raised in Shelbyville, IL, until he made the decision to serve in the US Navy and then made the transition to North Carolina in 2010. He will be remembered as being a shameless man with a heart of gold, that never met a stranger, as being very patriotic, an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan, loved to cook and eat, and loved fishing. Tim loved to spend time with his family and friends and making great memories with them. "Sloaner" loved to get on his motorcycle and ride, meet new people and see new places. He had a great love for all of his motorcycle family as well.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents; step-father Roy Smith; son Jevon Alan Sloan; and niece Rachael Sloan.
He is survived by his daughter Jamie Sloan of Maiden; sister Vickie Jayne and husband Mike of Newton, IL; brothers, Danny Sloan and wife Debra of Windsor, IL, Steve Sloan and wife Brenda of Dothan, AL, Jason Sloan and wife Jamie of Decatur, IL; granddaughter Jada Frisbee of Gastonia; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A memorial service was scheduled Monday, August 29, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the Chapel at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, with Rev. Marvin Wiley officiating. Military honors will be provided by the US Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family was scheduled to receive friends on Monday August 29, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory.
