Wanda's Story

Wanda L. Pruitt, 77, of Jacksonville passed away early Saturday morning, June 24, 2017 at White Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in White Hall. She was born February 8, 1940 the daughter of Bona James and Martha C. Askins Smith. She married Gary D. Pruitt on April 10, 1960 in Decatur and he survives.
She is also survived by one son, Gary B. "Brad" (Glenna) Pruitt of Milton; two grandchildren, Carter Pruitt of Tempe, AZ and Allie Pruitt of Milton; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Place of Pittsfield, Jessica (Kevin) Wade and Jared (Cammie) Shinn both of Milton; one sister, Betty (Delmer) Hudson of Cowden and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwin Smith and Richard Smith and two sisters, Maureen Robinson and Juanita Kater.
Mrs. Pruitt had been employed as a secretary at Wareco in Jacksonville for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in South Jacksonville. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending winters in Florida, bowling, going to craft shows, watching Wheel of Fortune and playing bingo. Although her greatest love was spending time with her family and following Carter, "CB" as she called him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
